Un Ballo in Maschera - Venetian Nights

DA Charity Ball 2013

Once a year, the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna is transformed into a festive ballroom to host its annual Charity Ball, a special highlight of the academic year. This traditional ball is a harmonious fusion of Viennese ball conventions and the cosmopolitan spirit of its guests.

The theme of this year’s ball is "Un Ballo in Maschera- Venetian Nights" and will take you on a masked journey through the nights of bella Venetia.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Diplomatic Academy on April 27th for the 2013 Charity Ball. It will truly be a lovely and unforgettable evening!

“UNITY OF WOMEN FRIENDS-SOMKI PROJECT” - TANZANIA

The student body elected to award the proceeds of this year’s ball to “Unity of Women Friends (UWF) – the Somki Project (Educating a girl child),” a non-governmental organization in Tanzania.

The organization was founded in 2005, with the explicit aim of providing and facilitating life changing support to women in dire social, economic, emotional and cultural circumstances. It demands the right to education on behalf of all children in order to advance social change, particularly gender equality. The "SOMKI PROJECT" supports girls from orphanages and families in need by paying their school fees, providing clothing, school supplies and by securing their livelihood.

We hope that you will contribute generously to “Unity of Women Friends- the Somki Project” and dance the night away at this year’s Diplomatic Academy Charity Ball.

In 1754, Empress Maria Theresa founded the Oriental Academy to train young men for the diplomatic service of the Habsburg monarchy. This later evolved into the Consular Academy and in 1964 the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, which in 1996 was granted the status of an independent public training institution.

Today the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna is a renowned postgraduate institution, preparing its students from all over the world for international careers in diplomacy, politics, and business.
