Graduation ceremony of the 6th ETIA programme of the DA and the TU – Presentation of the ARA Best Study Award

26.06.2014

On 25 June 2014, the graduation of the postgraduate programme „Environmental Technology and International Affairs“ (ETIA) took place at the Festsaal of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.
25 students from 14 countries resp. 4 continents participated in the MSc programme this year.

„We are very proud that this innovative idea has now advanced to a success story. The big success of this programme derives from the perfect cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (DA) and the Vienna University of Technology (TU), as well as the unique combination of legal, political, economic and technical education“, Ambassador Hans Winkler, Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, pointed out.

Bob Martens, Vice Director of the Continuing Education Center at the Vienna University of Technology also highlighted the interdisciplinarity of the programme as well as the excellent cooperation between the TU and the DA. As unique characteristics he emphasised – besides the high percentage of female students compared to other technical programmes – the small number of students per year which enables a very good network, as well as top class lecturers with real-life relevance and the high reputation of both institutions. At the ETIA programme “best of both worlds is coming together“, Martens said.

In the course of the graduation ceremony the „ARA Best Study Award“ that includes prize money of 18,000 euros was granted for the fifth time to the student with the best academic performance. ARA Altstoff Recycling Austria AG is Austria´s leading compliance scheme under the EU Packaging Directive. Christian Mayer, Head of Communications of ARA, stated his enthusiasm for this programme as global challenges can only be met by global efforts. Because of nearly identic performance, the ARA Best Study Award was granted to two graduates: Theresa Kuglitsch (Austria) and Aditi Ramola (India).

The Diplomatic Academy Vienna and the Continuing Education Center of TU Vienna congratulate the award winners and the alumni.

For the next class starting in September 2014 international candidates from Albania, Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Hungary, India, Italy, Luxembourg, Peru, the Philippines, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland, the UK, the United Arab Emirates, and the USA have been admitted.
